The 4th Annual Global Mixx Music Retreat, which took place on Oct 6th, was a jam packed weekend filled with top music events, artists, radio execs, and tons of surprises. The GMIXX panels and forums empowered, educated and engaged the Urban Entertainment Community.

At the award show, some of the big winners at the GMIXX Award Ceromony included Lil’ Wayne, DJ Khaled, Diddy, Dwele, Tony Touch, Digiwaxx, Serato, Def Jam and Koch.

Some of the attendees and presenters included DJ S&S, George Daniels, Drew Sidora, Khao, Sony Music Group, Ramonski Wade/V-103 Interscope Records, and The Source Magazine. First Lady (Radio personality/PD Radio-One Indianapolis) hosted the awards. The voting process for nominees and winners were determined by enthusiasts, DJ’s, and record labels executives through globalmixx.com.

“I was honored to be a part of such an incredible event. Being along side Chicago legends such as George Daniels and First Lady. I can’t say enough about Mary Datcher and the Global Mixx crew. The award ceremony was a star-studded event and I was proud to present the award for Best House DJ of the year to a very close and personal friend, Mr. Mark Farina. Thank you Mary and thank you Global Mixx,” says DJ Bear Who?.

The panel and forums were extensive, impactful and profound where the Music meets Politics and the Producer/Songwriter in particular nourished attendees with valuable knowledge. George Daniels moderated the Music Meets Politics discussion with panelists Dorothy Tillman (former Alderman), Kenny Johnson (The Richmond Group), Cynthia Johnson (National Director of Urban Promotions/Interscope), Maze Jackson (Universal Maz Jac Marketing), and Kenard Karter (MD/WGCI). Kevin Shine moderated the Producer and Songwriting forum with Sesac songwriter of the year/Grammy-award winning Bryan Michael Cox (Mary J. Blige/Keyshia Cole), J-Que of The Clutch (Usher, Avant, Fantasia), producer Khao (TI, R. Kelly, Ludacris and Lil’ Kim), Grammy award-winning producer/remixer Maurice Joshua (Beyonce), producer No I.D. (Jay-Z, Kanye West, Alicia Keys), and the legendary house/dance/R&B producer Steve “Silk” Hurley (Michael Jackson/Chaka Khan) as panelists on this powerful discussion.

“The Hip Hop and Politics Panel showed how much of an impact music can have in politics and how greatly the government can influence policies that are changing the way many of us do business in the entertainment industry,” says Janie Jennings of Industry Works/Universal.

“This year’s 4th Annual GMIXX Music Retreat was a major success because not only the attendance was strong in numbers but we achieved a major task and that was to bring together a diverse group of people from all areas of the music and entertainment industry. There were those that doubted our ability to pull this off particularly in Chicago but with our various alliances and an abundance of talent, we kicked those doubts to the curb. We taking in a great deal of feedback as we move towards working on our 5th year Anniversary in 2009 and making it a better experience for our Global Mixx attendees,” says Mary Datcher Creator/Executive Producer.
