interview by William Hernandez

WHO?MAG: Talk about the new single Girls around the World?
LLOYD: I got them everywhere. What can I say? It encompasses everything from the one night stand, the quickie, to the ideal of love. It’s about having that one girl that’s down for you and not afraid to say it out loud.

WHO?MAG: How did the song with Lil Wayne “You” come about?
LLOYD: I was in Big Reece’s basement and we thought I came across something special. It wasn’t that hard to get the lyrics cleared from Spandau Ballet who sang the original song “True”. I think they loved it actually. If not, they wouldn’t have supported it.

WHO?MAG: How was it working with Ashanti?
LLOYD: She’s a close friend of mine. Anytime you have a chance to work with a friend it’s always good.

WHO?MAG: Talk about your former group N-Toon?
LLOYD: N-Toon was a group I entered when I was 10. We released the album when I was 13 back in 1999. That was a big learning experience for me.

WHO?MAG: How did you hook up with Irv Gotti?
LLOYD: Through associates. Friends of friends introduced us. I liked his style, so I got down.

WHO?MAG: Tell me about your acting career on “One on One’?
LLOYD: Tyler Pratt a very funny girl and Flexx. Again, that was something I always wanted to do. It was something more than what people expect. I went to a performing arts school.

WHO?MAG: How do you feel about R&B music today?
LLOYD: I love it. I love all types of music. I pretty much have a respect for anyone who likes to do music. I think there’s a lot of good music and there’s a lot of trash. I think that having music that’s not so good and quality will make the good music stand out.
